Watching IPTV in Ireland straight from your Smart TV means one remote, no extra boxes and no cables. Samsung and LG TVs both support IPTV player apps, and setting up your IPTV subscription usually takes less than ten minutes. This guide covers the easiest methods, what to do if your TV is a little older, and why your choice of IPTV provider matters on a TV app.
Check Your Smart TV Is Compatible
Most Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) Smart TVs from around 2018 onwards can run IPTV apps. To check your model, go to Settings › Support › About This TV on Samsung, or Settings › General › About This TV on LG.
Got an older TV, or a different brand like Sony, Philips or Hisense? Plug in a Fire TV Stick or Android box instead. Method 3 below explains why that's often the smoothest option.
Why Your IPTV Provider Matters on a Smart TV
Smart TV apps have less processing power than a streaming stick, so a well-run IPTV provider makes a real difference: clean channel lists, a TV guide that loads quickly and streams that adapt to your broadband. A good IPTV Ireland service will also load your playlist onto the TV app for you, so you never have to type long links with the remote.
That's exactly how ÉireStream works: send us your TV's device details and we set up your IPTV subscription for you, usually within 5 minutes.
Method 1: IPTV on Samsung & LG with IBO Player
IBO Player is one of the most reliable IPTV apps on Smart TVs. It works with a device code instead of a typed login, so you don't have to tap out long passwords with the remote.
- Open your TV's app storeOn Samsung, open Apps from the home bar. On LG, open the LG Content Store.
- Install IBO PlayerSearch for IBO Player, install it and open the app.
- Note your device detailsThe app shows a MAC address and a Device Key on screen. Take a photo of them with your phone.
- Send them to us on WhatsAppSend the photo to our support team and we'll load your IPTV subscription onto your TV for you.
- Restart the appClose IBO Player and open it again. Your channels, films and series appear within a minute or two.

Smart TV player apps such as IBO Player are made by independent developers. They usually include a free trial period, then ask for a small one-off activation fee that is paid to the app developer, not to us.
Method 2: Other Smart TV IPTV Apps
If IBO Player isn't available on your TV, apps such as SET IPTV and Smart IPTV work in a similar way: install the app, note the MAC address shown on screen and send it to us. Some newer Samsung and LG models also offer apps that accept an Xtream Codes login, where you type your username, password and server URL directly.
App availability changes by TV model and region, so if you're not sure which one to pick, message our team with your TV model and we'll recommend the best app for it.
Not sure which app suits your TV?Send us your TV model on WhatsApp and we'll tell you exactly what to install.

Method 3: Plug in a Fire TV Stick for the Best Performance
Smart TV apps are convenient, but the processors inside many TVs are slower than a dedicated streaming stick. If your TV app feels sluggish when changing channels, a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box plugged into an HDMI port gives faster menus, better 4K playback and more app choice. Follow our Fire TV Stick IPTV guide to set one up.
Smart TV Settings for the Best Picture
- Connect with a network cable. Most Smart TVs have an Ethernet port, and a wired connection is far more stable than Wi-Fi for live sport.
- Update your TV software. Check for updates in the TV's Support or General settings menu so your apps run properly.
- Restart the TV fully. Switching off with the remote often only puts the TV on standby. Unplug it for 30 seconds every so often to clear its memory.
- Close other apps. Apps running in the background can slow down your IPTV player on older TVs.
Smart TV IPTV Troubleshooting
The playlist won't load
Restart the app and the TV. If the channels still don't appear, send us a new photo of the MAC address and Device Key so we can check they were entered correctly.
The app asks me to activate it
Your app's free trial period has ended. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate it with the developer, then reopen the app. Your IPTV subscription itself is unaffected.
Channels are buffering
Use a cable if possible, restart your router and try the HD version of the channel. If it continues, message us and we'll check your connection settings.
