According to Griffith’s Valuation 1846-1864, our ancestor, William Calnan, was a tenant farmer on the land where the pub now stands. His landlady was Mary Casey.
Was there in 2006. Had great evenings along my brother Sam and the other “Part Time . Locals” . Music and serious talk all abound here.
We visited Casey’s on our honeymoon, in June 1980, 40 years ago ! Casey had his young daughter fetch us a room at Mrs. O’Donahue’s Bed & Breakfast! Such wonderful memories from a time long ago. Is Casey’s still in the family, his daughter must be, at least 50 years old!
Hi Brad & Marie, Yes, Casey’s Bar is still in the family, and the “daughter” is involved in the running of the family bar. You should come back to Glandore to celebrate your 40th. Anniversary. Contact me anytime and I will get you Bed & Breakfast again in the village.
